François DeVille - Pedal Steel and Acoustic Guitars **and Backing Vocals
It's the quiet ones you want to watch out for...
François is the co-founder of the Diablos and has seen it through a
number of personnel changes - not the least of which involved his own
move from bass-player to steel-player. He is also the principal
song-writer and the Diablos' modern Country has provided a natural home
for his bitter-sweet musings on Life, Love and the Pursuit of Happiness!
François won't be found in the limelight, preferring to concentrate on
making the Pedal Steel sing for its supper. A bass player for many
years, he made the move from 4 strings to 12 strings about 4 years ago
and has never looked back. A trip to Nashville to study with the great
Jeff Newman remains a high point so far in his short steel playing
career. He jokes that he is about 40 years behind on his ten year plan.
He still plays bass regularly and is often to be seen (or at least
heard!) playing in Pit bands for theatrical productions as well as in
numerous outings with other bands; often with his musical partner of
more than 20 years, Danny O'Laughlin. He figures that variety helps keep
you fresh.
The Diablos is very much François' band and he is very proud of the
music they make and the pleasure they bring
